Managing risk arising from remote work has largely been reactive, and risk managers have had to adapt to new digital threats that weren't necessarily as prevalent when work was done from a physical office. Risk managers need to think proactively about how working remotely impacts their organization's exposure to risk and how to mitigate potential breaches.

"Security doesn't just happen. If you are not finding vulnerabilities, then you are not looking hard enough," said Suzy Greenberg, vice president, Intel Product Assurance and Security. Respondents are familiar with their organizations' purchases of IT security technologies and services.

Most notably, 29% of respondents experienced increased security threats and 30% of businesses admitting to not having enough mobile devices to offer to their remote workers. Seven out of ten employees admit to using personal devices for work - either exclusively or alongside a work device - with 18% noting that they haven't felt confident in the security of their device for the last 12 months.

Worldwide revenue for the combined consumer and enterprise WLAN market segments increased 17.9% year over year in the fourth quarter of 2020 and grew 10.3% for the full year, according to IDC. The enterprise segment grew revenues an impressive 10.3% year over year in 4Q20 to reach $1.86 billion and 1.9% for the full year 2020, reaching $6.35 billion. Overall unit shipments in the enterprise WLAN market grew 14.0% in 4Q20 compared to a year earlier.

Microsoft on Monday released a one-click mitigation software that applies all the necessary countermeasures to secure vulnerable environments against the ongoing widespread ProxyLogon Exchange Server cyberattacks. Called Exchange On-premises Mitigation Tool, the PowerShell-based script serves to mitigate against current known attacks using CVE-2021-26855, scan the Exchange Server using the Microsoft Safety Scanner for any deployed web shells, and attempt to remediate the detected compromises.
