Researchers have discovered a raft of malicious gaming apps on Google Play that come loaded with adware, signaling that the tech giant continues to struggle with keeping bad apps off its online marketplace. Among these endeavors include stronger vetting mechanisms-which resulted in more than 790,000 apps that violate Google's policies for app submission stopped last year before they were ever published-as well as an alliance with three endpoint security firms to help stop malicious apps before they get to Google Play.
Jumio announced that the company acquired the AML platform from Beam Solutions, a San Francisco-based startup focused on transaction monitoring and KYC. Jumio will integrate Beam's suite of AML solutions into its current KYX Platform to further strengthen the company's position in the anti-financial crime marketplace. Phunware announced that Cisco Meraki will now feature the Company's Smart Workplace solution for employers in its Meraki Marketplace. Cisco Systems acquired Meraki in 2012, and today, Cisco Meraki is a leader in cloud controlled WiFi, routing and security, all managed from a centralized dashboard.

US prosecutors claim six people bribed corrupt Amazon insiders to rig the the web giant's Marketplace in their favor and leak terabytes of data including some search algorithms. In an indictment [PDF] filed late last week, the Dept of Justice asserted that the six defendants paid over US$100,000 to "Complicit Amazon employees and contractors." The DoJ claims at least ten Amazonians took the crooked coin and "Baselessly and fraudulently conferred tens of millions of dollars of competitive benefits on hundreds of 3P seller accounts that the defendants purported to represent".
