The Ethernet Alliance, a global consortium dedicated to the continued success and advancement of Ethernet technologies, announced a successful validation of multivendor interoperability across 10 Gigabit Ethernet, 25GbE, 50GbE, 100GbE, 200GbE and 400GbE technologies and solutions from 17 Ethernet Alliance member companies. While such Web site card skimming attacks are not new, this intrusion leveraged a sneaky new domain that hides quite easily in a hacked site's source code: "Http[.]ps". This crafty domain was hidden inside the checkout and login pages for grandwesternsteaks.com, a meat delivery service owned by Cheney Bros. Ps domain is hosted in Russia, and sits on a server with one other malicious domain - autocapital[.

Microsoft has bragged of downing a nine million-strong Russian botnet responsible for vast quantities of email spam. The Necurs botnet, responsible over the years for quite a considerable volume of spam - as well as being hired out to crims pushing malware payloads such as the infamous Locky ransomware and Dridex malware - was downed by Microsoft and its industry chums following a US court order allowing the private sector companies to go in hard and heavy on the botnet.
