Following the announcements of Copilot+ enabled AI PCs at the Microsoft Build developer event on May 20, Microsoft released new developer tools, enhancements to Microsoft Azure AI and new enterprise options for Copilot. Microsoft, on May 21, offered three new ways to work with its AI Copilot assistant: Team Copilot, Copilot agents and Copilot Studio in Microsoft Power Platform.
Microsoft announced today that it will start deprecating VBScript in the second half of 2024 by making it an on-demand feature until it's completely removed. "Beginning with the new OS release slated for later this year, VBScript will be available as features on demand. The feature will be completely retired from future Windows OS releases, as we transition to the more efficient PowerShell experiences," said Microsoft program manager Naveen Shankar.
Microsoft's announcement of the new AI-powered Windows 11 Recall feature has sparked a lot of concern, with many thinking that it has created massive privacy risks and a new attack vector that threat actors can exploit to steal data. While it's currently only available on Copilot+ PCs running Snapdragon X ARM processors, Microsoft says they are working with Intel and AMD to bring the feature to all Windows 11 devices.

Starting in July, Microsoft will begin gradually enforcing multi-factor authentication for all users signing into Azure to administer resources. "Service principals, managed identities, workload identities, and similar token-based accounts used for automation are excluded. Microsoft is still gathering customer input for certain scenarios such as break-glass accounts and other special recovery processes," explained Azure product manager Naj Shahid.

Microsoft has shared a temporary fix for a known issue preventing Microsoft 365 customers from replying to encrypted emails using the Outlook Desktop client. Affected customers will receive error messages stating, "Microsoft Outlook was not able to create a message with restricted permission" when trying to reply to messages using Microsoft encryption.
Microsoft has acknowledged a new known issue causing this month's KB5037765 security update for Windows Server 2019 to fail to install with 0x800f0982 errors. This confirmation comes after many Windows admins reported seeing install failures when trying to deploy cumulative updates released during the May 2024 Patch Tuesday on Windows Server 2019 systems.
