EU MEPs want to start the public body - along with a host of other recommendations contained in a report that landed last night - after the so-called PEGA committee spent over a year looking into the use of Pegasus and equivalent spyware. In April, Citizen Lab and Microsoft both reported that a zero-click exploit allegedly developed by Israeli spyware company QuaDream - called "Reign" - was used to deliver spyware on devices running Apple's iOS 14 on victims' phones.

These accounts are usually used by backup, security or monitoring solutions. Using such accounts to remotely login to systems on the network introduces unnecessary risk - it's a bad practice, and an avoidable one.

The EU unveiled a plan Wednesday to regulate the sprawling field of artificial intelligence, aimed at helping Europe catch up in the new tech revolution while curbing the threat of Big Brother-like abuses. There have been competing concerns over the plans from both big tech and civil liberties groups arguing that the EU is either overreaching or not going far enough.

While Banijay has only shared that they have suffered a cyber-attack and that some of their data might have been compromised, the DoppelPaymer ransomware gang is claiming to be responsible.
