In May 2019, KrebsOnSecurity broke the news that the website of mortgage title insurance giant First American Financial Corp. had exposed approximately 885 million records related to mortgage deals going back to 2003. On Wednesday, regulators in New York announced that First American was the target of their first ever cybersecurity enforcement action in connection with the incident, charges that could bring steep financial penalties.
According to the survey, 32% of financial organizations have already seen an increase in data subject access rights requests since the CCPA came into force on January 1, 2020. This means that many financial organizations, which are already facing tough times, will need to allocate additional workforce and budget to ensure compliance with the CCPA. Other findings 33% of financial organizations discovered sensitive or regulated customer data outside of designated secure locations.
Motorola Solutions announced that Jason Winkler has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective July 1, 2020. Winkler succeeds Gino Bonanotte, who has decided to retire from Motorola Solutions on December 31, 2020.

Twitter apologized on Tuesday for sticking business clients' billing information into browser cache - a spot where the uninvited could have had a peek, regardless of not having the right to see it. On 20 May, Twitter updated the instructions that Twitter sends to browser cache, thereby putting a stopper in the leak.

Two vulnerabilities patched recently by Oracle in its E-Business Suite solution can be exploited by hackers for various purposes, including to tamper with an organization's financial records. Researchers at Onapsis, a company that specializes in protecting business-critical applications, last year discovered several vulnerabilities in Oracle EBS. Some of the flaws were patched by the vendor in April 2019, but two of them, which Onapsis has dubbed "BigDebIT," were only fixed with the critical patch update released by Oracle in January 2020.
Syniverse announced it has appointed Andrew Davies as chief financial and administrative officer. He replaces Simeon Irvine, who served as interim chief financial officer and who will continue with Syniverse as its chief transformation officer.
