VMware has flagged that a recently patched critical command injection vulnerability in Aria Operations for Networks has come under active exploitation in the wild. The flaw, tracked as CVE-2023-20887, could allow a malicious actor with network access to the product to perform a command injection attack, resulting in remote code execution.

VMware updated a security advisory published two weeks ago to warn customers that a now-patched critical vulnerability allowing remote code execution is being actively exploited in attacks. This notice follows multiple warnings from cybersecurity firm GreyNoise, the first issued one week after VMware patched the security flaw on June 15 and just two days after security researcher Sina Kheirkhah shared technical details and proof-of-concept exploit code.

Zyxel is warning its NAS devices users to update their firmware to fix a critical severity command injection vulnerability. Zyxel has provided no workarounds or mitigations for CVE-2023-27992 in its latest advisory, so users of the impacted NAS devices are recommended to apply the available security updates as soon as possible.

RCE patches generally cause the most concern, because they deal with bugs that can, in theory at least, be exploited by attackers who don't yet have a foothold on your network, which means they represent possible ways of criminals breaking-and-entering in the first place.

A security flaw has been uncovered in the WooCommerce Stripe Gateway WordPress plugin that could lead to the unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information. WooCommerce Stripe Gateway allows e-commerce websites to directly accept various payment methods through Stripe's payment processing API. It boasts of over 900,000 active installations.
