IPinfo announced the availability of its Privacy Detection API. This API detects various methods used to mask a user's true IP address, including VPN detection, proxy detection, tor usage, or a connection via a hosting provider, which could potentially be used to tunnel traffic and mask the true IP address. IPinfo performs custom full internet-wide scans to detect almost 10 million active VPNs. This is combined with data on public SOCKS and HTTP proxies, tor exit nodes, and its own IP usage type classification to determine which IP ranges belong to hosting providers.

Abu Dhabi and the UAE are working to pioneer breakthroughs in post-quantum cryptography and neuromorphic computing through an international partnership between Technology Innovation Institute's Cryptography Research Centre and Yale University, an Ivy League research university in Connecticut, United States. A prolific Russian hacker who stole data from over a dozen U.S. companies and information about over 100 million U.S. consumers was sentenced Thursday to 12 years in prison after admitting involvement in one of the biggest thefts of consumer data from a U.S. financial institution. Prosecutors say Tyurin helped steal the personal data of more than 80 million customers from JP Morgan Chase alone.
Nucleus Cyber announced that it has been acquired by archTIS. According to the terms of the agreement, archTIS will acquire a 100 percent stake in Nucleus Cyber in an all-stock deal for a total consideration of A$9.75 million. As part of the deal, key senior executives from Nucleus Cyber have agreed to join the archTIS senior management team and archTIS will continue to maintain and operate Nucleus Cyber's existing Boston headquarters.
