Elastic announced an expanded strategic partnership with Microsoft. From directly within the Microsoft Azure portal, customers can now find, deploy, and manage Elasticsearch and accelerate their time to value with Elastic Cloud solutions, including Elastic Enterprise Search, Observability, and Security.

Microsoft has released the first stable version of the native Winget Windows 10 package manager that helps you manage applications directly from the command line. Microsoft first announced the first preview version of its Windows 10 package manager at Microsoft Build 2020 and has developed it as an open-source project on GitHub since then.

Microsoft has addressed some of the annoyances reported by users of the newly released Windows 10 'News and Interests' feature in the latest preview update released for Windows 10 2004, 20H2, and 21H1. Using News and Interests, Windows 10 displays news stories and articles matching a profile of the logged-in users' interests based on their historically read content and various widgets with 'snackable' local forecast, sports, stocks, and traffic information. Microsoft has fixed a known Windows 10 issue that would lead to FLAC encoded music files becoming corrupted when changing their title, artist, or other metadata in File Explorer. "The FLAC property handler assumed that all FLAC files started with the 4 byte start code fLaC and did not take into account the ID3 frame at the beginning of the file," Microsoft explains.

Microsoft announced today at the Build 2021 developer conference that support for running Linux GUI apps is now available via Windows Subsystem for Linux.
