Microsoft today announced a new endpoint security solution dubbed Microsoft Defender for Business, specially built for small and medium-sized businesses.Microsoft Defender for Business is an endpoint security solution that helps businesses with up to 300 employees protect against cybersecurity threats, including malware and ransomware, in an easy-to-use, cost-effective package.

Microsoft announced today that the Chromium-based Edge web browser is now generally available on the Linux platform via the stable channel. In September 2019, Redmond asked for feedback from Linux users on the release of the Edge browser for Linux to flesh out the requirements needed for an official launch.

Microsoft Defender for Windows is getting a massive overhaul allowing home network admins to deploy Android, iOS, and Mac clients to monitor antivirus, phishing, compromised passwords, and identity theft alerts from a single security dashboard.For the past few years, Microsoft has been focusing on the enterprise's security while leaving Windows 10 consumers with the passable but fairly generic built-in Microsoft Defender antivirus software.

The Microsoft Detection and Response Team says it detected an increase in password spray attacks targeting privileged cloud accounts and high-profile identities such as C-level executives. These attacks often use the same password while switching from one account to another to find easy to breach accounts and avoid triggering defenses like password lockout and malicious IP blocking.

Microsoft 365, formerly called Office 365, is Microsoft's cloud strategy flagship product with major changes ahead, such as the deprecation of their legacy authentication protocols. These authentication protocols do not support modern authentication mechanisms like multi-factor authentication, which means that enabling MFA won't suffice.

Microsoft says Windows customers are experiencing issues with network printing after installing the Windows 11 KB5006674 and Windows 10 KB5006670 updates issued with this month's Patch Tuesday, on October 12.
