International wholesale giant METRO is experiencing infrastructure outages and store payment issues following a recent cyberattack. Even though its stores are still operating, METRO says that it was forced to set up offline payment systems and that online orders are delayed.
Medibank, a private health insurer in Australia with 3.7 million customers, has confirmed today it is the latest business down under to fall victim to a digital break-in. "The work we have done today continues to show no evidence that customer data has been accessed, however our investigation is ongoing," Medibank added.

Taiwanese chip maker ADATA denies claims of a RansomHouse cyberattack after the threat actors began posting stolen files on their data leak site. The RansomHouse gang added ADATA files to their data leak site on Tuesday, claiming they stole 1TB worth of documents in a 2022 cyberattack.
Aussie police have cuffed a 19-year-old Sydney resident accused of trying to extort money from victims of the recent cyberattack and digital burglary at national telecommunications provider Optus. The Australian Federal Police said today it was alerted to the blackmail attempt when some Optus customers were told to transfer AU$2,000 to a bank account or have their personal data used for financial crimes.

"Any attempts tracked by FBI and CISA have remained localized and were blocked or successfully mitigated with minimal or no disruption to election processes," the two agencies says in the report.

The attacks are said to be targeting the energy sector, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said.
