Western Digital announced new solutions that provide the foundation for next-generation data infrastructures designed around Ultrastar NVMe SSDs and supercharged by NVMe-oF. Building upon the company's innovative design and integration capabilities - from NAND Flash to storage platforms - the new dual-port, performance Ultrastar DC SN840 NVMe SSDs and in-house RapidFlex NVMe-oF controllers are standalone solutions that combine to create the new OpenFlex Data24 NVMe-oF Storage Platform, a new shared storage JBOF enclosure that extends the value of NVMe to multiple hosts over a low-latency Ethernet fabric network. These new solutions further expand Western Digital's data center portfolio to help customers transition to higher efficiency NVMe SSDs and more advanced shared storage architectures to meet the evolving demands of performance-driven applications and workloads.

As Australia reels under sustained cyber attacks following increased Chinese diplomatic hostility, the country's Lion brewery and dairy conglomerate has been hit for the second time. The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Lion told its staff today "It had been hit by a second cyber attack that had further disrupted its IT systems."
While digital transformation is understood to be critical, its rapid adoption, as seen with cloud providers, IoT and shadow IT, is creating significant cyber risk for most organizations. Digital transformation is increasing cyber risk, and IT security has very little involvement in directing efforts to ensure a secure digital transformation process.
One of the long-standing barriers to collaboration is that security teams have had zero visibility into OT networks and no telemetry. Solutions that are purpose-built for OT visibility and continuous threat monitoring and that you can quickly implement, enable IT and OT teams to look at OT environments together, work from the same set of information, and take specific steps to build resiliency and reach new levels of productivity.
RiskIQ released a report analyzing the company's internet-wide telemetry and massive internet data collection to reveal the true extent of the modern corporate digital attack surface. "Today, organizations are responsible for defending not only their internal network but also their digital presence across the internet and the cloud," said Lou Manousos, CEO, RiskIQ. "Bringing the massive scope of an organization's attack surface into focus helps frame the challenges of extending cybersecurity outside the corporate firewall, especially as staff forced to work from home in response to COVID-19 push that boundary farther out."
The premise being that by solving a critical problem for them at a very high premium, that will cover the costs of developing an actual solution that can be sold broadly-e.g., the sale will fund my company's product development. Although there may be a few cases where only a custom-tuned solution is required, many large businesses now prefer to buy a close-enough solution off the rack and work with the vendor as an advisor-not an investor.
