The former BAE Systems worker accused of sending details of a UK missile system to hostile foreign powers and of ignoring police demands to hand over his device passwords, has been jailed. The U.S. Internal Revenue Service has announced today that sensitive information will be masked on all business tax transcripts starting next month to protect companies from identity theft. This type of identity theft occurs after fraudsters gain access to a business' bank accounts and credit cards or following sensitive company information theft, including but not limited to tax identification numbers and the owners' personal info.

The vast number of Internet-of-Things devices are proving to be lucrative for botnet operators to carry out various attacks - from sending spam to launching harmful distributed denial-of-service attacks, according to Derek Manky, Chief of Security Insights & Global Threat Alliances at Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs. Manky said he's seen an increase in a number of botnets made up of compromised IoT devices, which can be attributed to various factors.

Three nation-state cyberattack groups are actively attempting to hack companies involved in COVID-19 vaccine and treatment research, researchers said. "The targets include leading pharmaceutical companies and vaccine researchers in Canada, France, India, South Korea and the United States."


Biomedical and clinical research company Miltenyi Biotec says that it has fully restored systems after a malware attack that took place last month and affected the firm's global IT infrastructure. "During the last two weeks, there have been isolated cases where order processing was impaired by malware in parts of our global IT infrastructure," Miltenyi Biotec said in an official statement.
