The company announced that its lineup of CM6 and CD6 Series PCIe 4.0 NVM Express enterprise and data center solid state drives have gained compatibility approval with Super Micro Computer, PCIe 4.0-based platforms, including a wide range of enterprise-ready rackmount systems encompassing Ultra, WIO, BigTwin, FatTwin, SuperBlade, 1U/2U NVMe all flash arrays, GPU accelerated systems, and Super Workstations. Users are moving to NVMe SSDs to address the demands of enterprise performance requirements, cloud-based data center architectures, and performance-centric and latency-sensitive applications.
Samsung announced that it has begun mass producing its most advanced line of data center SSDs, the PM9A3 E1.S. The new PM9A3 fully complies with the Open Compute Project NVMe Cloud SSD Specification to satisfy the rigorous demands of enterprise workloads. "Providing an optimal mix of performance, power, reliability and firmware, we believe our new PM9A3 will help advance today's data center storage technologies and expand the market for OCP-compliant SSDs.".
Western Digital announced it's now delivering 4TB portable SSDs across its consumer brand portfolio. "This milestone allows us to deliver a new era of solutions with the capacity and performance our customers have been asking for. Our consumer brand products are used by millions of professionals and consumers around the world, and we continue to drive technology forward to deliver the performance, reliability and leading products they demand," said Jim Welsh, senior vice president and general manager of Consumer Solutions Products, Western Digital.
Microsoft has removed a safeguard hold blocking Windows 10 updates on systems affected by a known issue causing blue screen of death crashes when users plugged in a Thunderbolt NVMe Solid State Drive. After discovering the BSOD issue, Microsoft added a compatibility hold to prevent impacted devices from being offered Windows 10, version 2004 or Windows 10, version 20H2 upgrades.
Microsoft has fixed a known issue causing Windows 10 blue screens of death crashes when users plugged in a Thunderbolt NVMe Solid State Drive. To be impacted by this known issue Windows 10 device would have to feature at least one Thunderbolt NVMe SSD and one Thunderbolt port.
Western Digital today announced a suite of new NVMe SSDs for enabling next-generation, data-centric architectures for data centers, industrial IoT, automotive and client applications. The new family includes the Ultrastar DC ZN540 ZNS NVMe SSD for designing a more efficient data center storage tier with competitive TCO; the Western Digital IX SN530 Industrial SSD for the extreme environments of industrial and automotive applications; and the 2TB WD Blue SN550 NVMe SSD for speeding up PC performance.

iStorage has launched the diskAshur M2. The diskAshur M2 is iStorage's smallest, lightest, fastest and most rugged FIPS compliant encrypted portable SSD and includes connectivity for both USB type A and C ports. The new diskAshur M2 SSD encrypts data using FIPS PUB 197 validated, AES-XTS 256-bit hardware encryption and uniquely incorporates a Common Criteria EAL4+ ready secure microprocessor, which employs built-in physical protection mechanisms designed to defend against external tamper, bypass physical attacks and more.
The company also announced an update to its IronWolf and IronWolf Pro Network Attached Storage drive lines, aimed at home and small office environments, with new 18TB capacity HDD and new SATA SSD models. "Our upgrades to the IronWolf and IronWolf Pro family of NAS products will provide small and medium businesses with the robust data management infrastructure they need as they plan for the future."
Amazon Web Services, an Amazon Company, announced general availability of io2, the next generation Provisioned IOPS SSD volumes for Amazon Elastic Block Store. Io2 volumes are priced the same as io1 volumes, keeping the same predictable cost for EBS customers, but now support 10x higher IOPS-to-storage ratio and up to 500 IOPS for every provisioned GB, so that customers can get more performance without increasing their storage spend.
