Cybersecurity firm Trend Micro on Monday announced a new endpoint security solution developed by TXOne Networks for devices in operational technology environments. Launched in 2018 as a joint venture between Trend Micro and industrial networking solutions provider Moxa, TXOne offers solutions for protecting industrial control systems against cyber threats.
FireEye announced that Mandiant Managed Defense, Mandiant's managed detection and response service, now supports Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. "With threat conditions changing constantly, companies require trusted expertise with powerful analytical capabilities to ensure accurate and decisive execution - this is where Mandiant shines," said Marshall Heilman, Executive Vice President, Managed Defense and Advanced Practices, FireEye.
Trend Micro announced an OT-native endpoint security solution, provided as part of its total security solution for smart factories. "The ugly truth of ICS endpoint security is that there has not been any security solution specifically designed for the high-availability needs of modernized equipment in the OT environment," said Akihiko Omikawa, executive vice president of IoT security for Trend Micro and chairman of TXOne Networks.
Microsoft Defender for Endpoint expands its use of Intel Threat Detection Technology beyond accelerated memory scanning capabilities to activate central processing unit based cryptomining machine learning detection. "Customers who choose Intel vPro with the exclusive Intel Hardware Shield now gain full-stack visibility to detect threats out of the box with no need for IT configuration."
Cyber hygiene and patch management company Automox on Tuesday announced raising $110 million in a Series C funding round that brings the total raised by the firm to more than $152 million. The money will be invested in sales and expanding the functionality of Automox's endpoint management platform.

Q4 2020 also brought a 41% increase in encrypted malware detections over the previous quarter and network attacks hit their highest levels since 2018. "The attacks are coming on all fronts, as cybercriminals increasingly leverage fileless malware, cryptominers, encrypted attacks and more, and target users both at remote locations as well as corporate assets behind the traditional network perimeter. Effective security today means prioritising endpoint detection and response, network defences and foundational precautions such as security awareness training and strict patch management."
