While passwords may not be a cutting-edge security innovation, that's not to suggest that CIOs don't need to modernize their approach to password management. Employees' poor password management practices are well-documented, with Google finding that 65% of people use the same password for multiple, if not all, online accounts.
As companies started to realize the business value digital transformation unlocks in terms of operations efficiency, performance, and quality of services, they began opening new connectivity vectors to enterprise infrastructure and collecting data from machinery and processes and storing and analyzing it in the cloud. As digital transformation and cybersecurity become pillars that successful companies will build their futures on, the time has come to include CISOs and CIOs on company boards.

CIOs are prioritizing identity and access management over endpoint security and security awareness training in 2020, according to a Hitachi ID survey. Their goals reflect these new priorities: 86% said they're aiming to improve security standards across their environment, while 80% are making their tech stack more flexible for remote and on-premise users.
Most IT leaders say their priorities have shifted since the coronavirus pandemic surfaced around the start of the year, says Hitachi ID.
A survey report published Tuesday by identity management provider Hitachi ID shines a light on the new priorities among IT leaders for 2020. Cited by 89% of those surveyed, cybersecurity is now considered the top priority for the rest of 2020.
LexisNexis Risk Solutions announced the results of its annual focus group, comprised of over 20 healthcare IT executives that are members of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. While the focus group came together before the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the technology priorities for 2020 - from data sharing and security to using data analytics to help vulnerable populations - have become more urgent in light of the pandemic challenges.
Key findings 75% of global CIOs expressed concern about the security risks connected with the proliferation of TLS machine identities. 56% of CIOs said they worry about outages and business interruptions due to expired certificates.
