Toyota shutters 14 plants after probable cyberattack

Toyota has closed all 14 plants it operates in Japan due to what it has described as a "System failure" at Kojima Industries Corporation - and local media report the cause of the failure is a cyberattack. Kojima Industries' is a Toyota subsidiary that manufacturers interior and exterior car parts and participates in Toyota's just-in-time supply chains.

China-linked Daxin Malware Targeted Multiple Governments in Espionage Attacks

A previously undocumented espionage tool has been deployed against selected governments and other critical infrastructure targets as part of a long-running espionage campaign orchestrated by China-linked threat actors since at least 2013. Broadcom's Symantec Threat Hunter team characterized the backdoor, named Daxin, as a technologically advanced malware, allowing the attackers to carry out a variety of communications and information-gathering operations aimed at entities in the telecom, transportation, and manufacturing sectors that are of strategic interest to China.

Microsoft: Russia invasion of Ukraine ‘unlawful, unjustified’

Microsoft is decrying what it calls the "Tragic, unlawful and unjustified invasion of Ukraine" by Russia, and vowed to continue protecting the country from cyberattacks and state-sponsored disinformation campaigns. The software giant added it will support humanitarian efforts as Ukrainians try to fend off an invading Russian army and as hundreds of thousands flee Ukraine into such neighbors as Poland, Romania, and Moldova.
