Panda Restaurant Group, the parent company of Panda Express, Panda Inn, and Hibachi-San, disclosed a data breach after attackers compromised its corporate systems in March and stole the personal information of an undisclosed number of individuals. The company discovered a data security breach on March 10, 2024, which affected some of its corporate systems but left in-store systems, operations, and guest experience unaffected.
Damn Vulnerable RESTaurant is an open-source project that allows developers to learn to identify and fix security vulnerabilities in their code through an interactive game. "I wanted to create a generic playground for ethical hackers, developers, and security engineers where they could identify, exploit, or fix vulnerabilities. Furthermore, security engineers could implement new vulns and test their detection tools because the Python FastAPI framework allows quick development," Krzysztof Pranczk, the creator of Damn Vulnerable RESTaurant, told Help Net Security.
McDonald's restaurants are suffering global IT outages that prevent employees from taking orders and accepting payments, causing some stores to close for the day. The outages started overnight and are impacting restaurants globally, including those in the USA, Japan, Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Italy, New Zealand, and the UK. "We are aware of a technology outage, which impacted our restaurants; the issue is now being resolved," McDonald's said in a statement to BleepingComputer.
The Golden Corral American restaurant chain disclosed a data breach after attackers behind an August cyberattack stole the personal information of over 180,000 people. "On or about August 15, 2023, Golden Corral experienced a data security incident that caused a temporary disruption to our corporate operations," Golden Corral said.
The LockBit ransomware gang is claiming an attack on submarine sandwich slinger Subway, alleging it has made off with a platter of data.LockBit's post to its leak blog, published on January 21, suggests one of its affiliates breached Subway's database, stealing sensitive data on "All financial aspects" of the fast food franchise.
