Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that it's enabling support for sleeping tabs and now Microsoft is rolling out two new features - vertical tabs and startup boost. Vertical tabs feature was first introduced last year and this feature has been designed to move the tabs bar from the top to the left side in a vertical layout and you can switch between old and new layout with one click.

Microsoft is now using crowdsourcing to determine whether to show a site's website subscription dialog prompt in the Microsoft Edge web browser. After Microsoft rolled out their quiet notification requests feature in Edge 84, they noticed a significant drop in undesired notifications dialog prompts, but at the same time, legitimate sites' notifications were affected as well.

Chromium-based browsers such as Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome will soon support the Intel CET security feature to prevent a wide range of vulnerabilities. Intel's Control-flow Enforcement Technology is a hardware security feature initially introduced in 2016 and added to Intel's 11th generation CPUs in 2020.

Microsoft has announced today that Microsoft Edge Legacy will be permanently removed and replaced with the new Microsoft Edge after installing April's Windows 10 Patch Tuesday security update. "To replace this out of support application, we are announcing that the new Microsoft Edge will be available as part of the Windows 10 cumulative monthly security update-otherwise referred to as the Update Tuesday release-on April 13, 2021," the Microsoft Edge Team said.

Two major browsers -Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome - are rolling out default features, which they say will better help notify users if their password has been compromised as part of a breach or database exposure. Microsoft on Thursday said that its next version of Edge will generate alerts if a user password is found in an online leak.

Microsoft has detailed how the Password Monitor feature in Edge works after it pushed version 88 of the browser into the Stable channel. The Password Monitor technology had already been made available to Insiders during 2020 and notifies users in the event their saved passwords are found in a third-party breach.
