Security News > 2022 > December > Microsoft fixes bug that made Task Manager partially unreadable
Microsoft has addressed a known issue that made parts of the Task Manager unreadable after installing the KB5020044 November preview update on Windows 11 22H2 systems.
As Redmond explained when confirming the issue two weeks ago, affected users see some user interface elements of the Task Manager displayed using unexpected colors that make them unreadable.
The bug behind these UI problems was fixed in the Windows 11 KB5021255 cumulative update during this month's Patch Tuesday.
"This update addresses a known issue that might affect Task Manager. It might display certain elements in the user interface in unexpected colors. Some parts of the UI might not be readable," Microsoft explained.
The Task Manager display bug should not impact Windows 11 users who picked Dark or Light mode in the Settings app.
Microsoft also provided a temporary solution that should help affected Windows 11 22H2 customers who haven't yet installed the December 2022 Patch Tuesday updates mitigate the issue.
