The Conti ransomware gang failed to encrypt the systems of Ireland's Department of Health despite breaching its network and dropping Cobalt Strike beacons to deploy their malware across the network. The next day, at 07:00 AM, a human-operated Conti ransomware attack disabled some of HSE's devices, forcing the health service to shut down its entire IT infrastructure to limit the impact.

Magecart Group 12, known for skimming payment information from online shoppers, was fingered for last September's gonzo attack on more than 2,000 e-Commerce sites, and now researchers have issued a report explaining how they did it, detailing a new technical approach. The credit-card skimmer group is using PHP web shells to gain remote administrative access to the sites under attack to steal credit-card data, rather than using their previously favored JavaScript code, which they simply injected into vulnerable sites to log the information keyed into online checkout sites, according to Malwarebytes Labs' Threat Intelligence Team.
Penetration testing in and of itself is a good way to test cybersecurity, but only if every nook and cranny of the digital environment is tested; if not, there is no need to test. Unlucky owners of Eufycam security cameras were horrified earlier today when they opened their app for the equipment and saw video streams from strangers' homes instead of their own. If they haven't already done so, users should unplug and then reconnect their devices, log out of the Eufy security app, and log in again to see the correct feeds.
