Microsoft Edge is now 41% faster with new Startup Boost feature
2021-03-04 18:18

Earlier this year, Microsoft announced that it's enabling support for sleeping tabs and now Microsoft is rolling out two new features - vertical tabs and startup boost.

Vertical tabs feature was first introduced last year and this feature has been designed to move the tabs bar from the top to the left side in a vertical layout and you can switch between old and new layout with one click.

The second new feature is 'Startup boost', which will automatically maximize your device performance by reducing the time it takes to open the browser after a device reboot or reopening the browser.

The Startup Boost feature works by automatically launching a background Microsoft Edge process when a user logs into Windows.

Startup boost feature will be enabled automatically in the coming weeks and Microsoft believes that startup times will improve from 29% - 41% percent with this feature.

If you don't like startup boost, you can access your settings menu and navigate to the system page to turn off or turn on startup boost.
