Huawei CSO Responds to 5G Security and Espionage Concerns

In response to White House warnings that 5G infrastructure equipment built by Huawei could be subverted by China to conduct espionage, Andy Purdy of Huawei Technologies USA says his company has pledged full transparency and urges competitors to follow suit.

He oversees Huawei USA's cybersecurity assurance strategy and system, and supports the global security system adopted by all the company's business groups and departments.

Prior to joining Huawei USA, he worked as chief cybersecurity strategist for Computer Sciences Corp. While working at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, he helped form and launch the National Cyber Security Division and the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team, for which he served as acting director from 2004 to 2006.
