Microsoft says the KB5022913 February 2023 non-security preview release is incompatible with some third-party UI customization apps and is causing boot issues on Windows 11 22H2 systems.
In a new update to the Windows Health Dashboard, the company explained that using third-party UI customization applications could potentially prevent Windows from starting up properly.
"After installing KB5022913 or later updates, Windows devices with some third-party UI customization apps might not start up," Microsoft said.
"These third-party apps might cause errors with explorer.exe that might repeat multiple times in a loop. The known affected third-party UI customization apps are ExplorerPatcher and StartAllBack."
The KB5022913 Windows 11 non-security cumulative update was released today with a large set of new features, part of Microsoft's newly announced Moment 2 update.
The list of improvements includes but is not limited to an AI-powered Bing Chat integrated into the Windows taskbar, Phone Link for iOS devices, a Task Manager search bar, a new Tabbed Notepad, energy recommendations, screen recording in the Snipping Tool, and a fix for an issue causing a massive Windows 11 22H2 file copy performance hit.
