Application development and maintenance services in the U.S. are evolving to meet changing demands from enterprises that need dynamic applications with rich user interfaces, according to a report published by Information Services Group.

Service providers are meeting these requirements through next-generation ADM services, which are incorporating greater use of APIs, microservices, containers, low-code/no-code platforms and cloud-native approaches.

In the U.S., service providers are focusing on specific industries as they introduce digital transformation services and DevOps methodologies, the report says.

"Enterprises that see the digital future are moving away from legacy approaches to software development and maintenance," said Jan Erik Aase, partner and global leader, ISG Provider Lens Research.

Faced with the COVID-19 crisis, ADM service providers quickly regrouped with measures to ensure business continuity, security and efficiency, the report says.

With the many testing tools on offer, flexibility and integration with ADM services is critical, and service providers are forming new partnerships with continuous testing specialists.
