Security News > 2020 > November > IoT Cybersecurity Improvement Act Passed, Heads to President’s Desk
Security stalwarts praised the bill's alignment with existing standards and best practices, as well as its meaning for IoT devices - which have long been plagued by security and privacy issues.
The IoT Cybersecurity Improvement Act has several different parts.
NIST's EU counterpart, the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security, has already published baseline security recommendations for IoT devices.
"This will take sustained engagement from both the public and private sectors, but the passage of the IoT Cybersecurity Improvement Act and the lessons to be learned in its implementation will be invaluable to this process."
Dirk Schrader, global vice president at New Net Technologies, said that security measures like the IoT Cybersecurity Improvement Act "Improves the security posture overall."
