2020-11-17 22:51

President Trump has fired Chris Krebs, Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, after Krebs disputed claims that the U.S. 2020 Presidential Election was insecure and fraudulent.

Trump appointed Krebs as the first director of CISA after it was established on November 16, 2018, as part of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Act of 2018.

Krebs has stated that the 2020 elections was the most secure in history and helped create the CISA Rumor Control site to dispel election-related conspiracy theories and misinformation.

This evening President Trump stated that Krebs' statement was "Highly inaccurate" and terminated his position at CISA. Krebs was respected by those on both sides of the aisle for his non-partisan leadership, depth of knowledge on cybersecurity matters, and commitment to securing the US elections.

Krebs both acknowledged his termination and continued commitment to election security with a tweet from his personal account.
