Security News > 2020 > March > Google launches FuzzBench service to benchmark fuzzing tools
First came 'fuzzing', a long-established technique for spotting bugs such as security flaws in real applications using automated tools.
More recently, security fuzzing tools have expanded in number, and today there are hundreds of specialised open-source tools and online services designed to probe specific types of software.
Which security fuzzing tools, techniques and algorithms work the best when assessing real programs for bugs?
So fuzzing users base their enthusiasm for specific tools on incomplete data or their own experience, which creates some uncertainty.
It would be flippant to call this fuzzing by numbers, but the hope is that by giving fuzzers more data on what works they can spend more time making fuzzing tools better.
