"We sincerely hope that the United States government will address this issue by carrying out a formal investigation of any doubts it may have about Huawei in an effort to reach a clear and accurate conclusion," he said. Huawei decided to abandon the $2m 3Leaf deal last week on the recommendation of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), a cross-government body that scrutinises the national security implications of foreign investments. The Committee was pressed to act by members of Congress, who said Huawei had deliberately hidden the deal from authorities and "has history of illegal behaviour and ties with the People’s Liberation Army, Taliban and Iranian Revolutionary Guard".
