Common Attack Pattern Enumeration and Classification (CAPEC)

  • Accessing, Modifying or Executing Executable Files
An attack of this type exploits a system's configuration that allows an attacker to either directly access an executable file, for example through shell access; or in a possible worst case allows an attacker to upload a file and then execute it. Web servers, ftp servers, and message oriented middleware systems which have many integration points are particularly vulnerable, because both the programmers and the administrators must be in synch regarding the interfaces and the correct privileges for each interface.
  • Leverage Executable Code in Non-Executable Files
An attack of this type exploits a system's trust in configuration and resource files, when the executable loads the resource (such as an image file or configuration file) the attacker has modified the file to either execute malicious code directly or manipulate the target process (e.g. application server) to execute based on the malicious configuration parameters. Since systems are increasingly interrelated mashing up resources from local and remote sources the possibility of this attack occurring is high. The attack can be directed at a client system, such as causing buffer overrun through loading seemingly benign image files, as in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-028 where specially crafted JPEG files could cause a buffer overrun once loaded into the browser. Another example targets clients reading pdf files. In this case the attacker simply appends javascript to the end of a legitimate url for a pdf (http://www.gnucitizen.org/blog/danger-danger-danger/) http://path/to/pdf/file.pdf#whatever_name_you_want=javascript:your_code_here The client assumes that they are reading a pdf, but the attacker has modified the resource and loaded executable javascript into the client's browser process. The attack can also target server processes. The attacker edits the resource or configuration file, for example a web.xml file used to configure security permissions for a J2EE app server, adding role name "public" grants all users with the public role the ability to use the administration functionality. The server trusts its configuration file to be correct, but when they are manipulated, the attacker gains full control.
  • Blue Boxing
This type of attack against older telephone switches and trunks has been around for decades. A tone is sent by an adversary to impersonate a supervisor signal which has the effect of rerouting or usurping command of the line. While the US infrastructure proper may not contain widespread vulnerabilities to this type of attack, many companies are connected globally through call centers and business process outsourcing. These international systems may be operated in countries which have not upgraded Telco infrastructure and so are vulnerable to Blue boxing. Blue boxing is a result of failure on the part of the system to enforce strong authorization for administrative functions. While the infrastructure is different than standard current applications like web applications, there are historical lessons to be learned to upgrade the access control for administrative functions.
  • Restful Privilege Elevation
Rest uses standard HTTP (Get, Put, Delete) style permissions methods, but these are not necessarily correlated generally with back end programs. Strict interpretation of HTTP get methods means that these HTTP Get services should not be used to delete information on the server, but there is no access control mechanism to back up this logic. This means that unless the services are properly ACL'd and the application's service implementation are following these guidelines then an HTTP request can easily execute a delete or update on the server side. The attacker identifies a HTTP Get URL such as http://victimsite/updateOrder, which calls out to a program to update orders on a database or other resource. The URL is not idempotent so the request can be submitted multiple times by the attacker, additionally, the attacker may be able to exploit the URL published as a Get method that actually performs updates (instead of merely retrieving data). This may result in malicious or inadvertent altering of data on the server.
  • Target Programs with Elevated Privileges
This attack targets programs running with elevated privileges. The attacker would try to leverage a bug in the running program and get arbitrary code to execute with elevated privileges. For instance an attacker would look for programs that write to the system directories or registry keys (such as HKLM, which stores a number of critical Windows environment variables). These programs are typically running with elevated privileges and have usually not been designed with security in mind. Such programs are excellent exploit targets because they yield lots of power when they break. The malicious user try to execute its code at the same level as a privileged system call.

descriptionAccording to the versions of the kernel packages installed, the EulerOS Virtualization installation on the remote host is affected by the following vulnerabilities : - An information-leak vulnerability was found in the kernel when it truncated a file to a smaller size which consisted of an inline extent that was compressed. The data between the new file size and the old file size was not discarded and the number of bytes used by the inode were not correctly decremented, which gave the wrong report for callers of the stat(2) syscall. This wasted metadata space and allowed for the truncated data to be leaked, and data corruption or loss to occur. A caller of the clone ioctl could exploit this flaw by using only standard file-system operations without root access to read the truncated data.(CVE-2015-8374) - A flaw was found in the Linux kernel

flaw by using only standard file-system operations
without root access to read the truncated
        data.(CVE-2015-8374)

      - A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's key management
system where it was possible for an attacker to
escalate privileges or crash the machine. If a user key
gets negatively instantiated, an error code is cached
in the payload area. A negatively instantiated key may
be then be positively instantiated by updating it with
valid data. However, the -i1/4zupdate key type method
must be aware that the error code may be
        there.(CVE-2015-8539)

      - A NULL pointer dereference flaw was found in the way
the Linux kernel's network subsystem handled socket
creation with an invalid protocol identifier. A local
user could use this flaw to crash the
        system.(CVE-2015-8543)

      - An out-of-bounds flaw was found in the kernel, where
the length of the sockaddr parameter was not checked in
        the pptp_bind() and pptp_connect() functions. As a
result, more kernel memory was copied out than
required, leaking information from the kernel stack
(including kernel addresses). A local system user could
exploit this flaw to bypass kernel ASLR or leak other
        information.(CVE-2015-8569)

      - An out-of-bounds flaw was found in the kernel, where
the sco_sock_bind() function (bluetooth/sco) did not
check the length of its sockaddr parameter. As a
result, more kernel memory was copied out than
required, leaking information from the kernel stack
(including kernel addresses). A local user could
exploit this flaw to bypass kernel ASLR or leak other
        information.(CVE-2015-8575)

      - The ovl_setattr function in fs/overlayfs/inode.c in the
Linux kernel through 4.3.3 attempts to merge distinct
setattr operations, which allows local users to bypass
intended access restrictions and modify the attributes
of arbitrary overlay files via a crafted
        application.(CVE-2015-8660)

      - A NULL pointer dereference flaw was found in the Linux
kernel: the NFSv4.2 migration code improperly
initialized the kernel structure. A local,
authenticated user could use this flaw to cause a panic
of the NFS client (denial of service).(CVE-2015-8746)

      - A race condition flaw was found in the way the Linux
        kernel's SCTP implementation handled sctp_accept()
during the processing of heartbeat timeout events. A
remote attacker could use this flaw to prevent further
connections to be accepted by the SCTP server running
on the system, resulting in a denial of
        service.(CVE-2015-8767)

      - An infinite-loop flaw was found in the kernel. When a
local user calls the sys_writev syscall with a
specially crafted sequence of iov structs, the
        fuse_fill_write_pages kernel function might never
terminate, instead continuing in a tight loop. This
process cannot be terminated and requires a
        reboot.(CVE-2015-8785)

      - A NULL-pointer dereference vulnerability was found in
the Linux kernel's TCP stack, in
        net/netfilter/nf_nat_redirect.c in the
        nf_nat_redirect_ipv4() function. A remote,
unauthenticated user could exploit this flaw to create
a system crash (denial of service).(CVE-2015-8787)

      - A use-after-free flaw was found in the CXGB3 kernel
driver when the network was considered to be congested.
The kernel incorrectly misinterpreted the congestion as
an error condition and incorrectly freed or cleaned up
the socket buffer (skb). When the device then sent the
skb's queued data, these structures were referenced. A
local attacker could use this flaw to panic the system
(denial of service) or, with a local account, escalate
        their privileges.(CVE-2015-8812)

      - The hub_activate function in drivers/usb/core/hub.c in
the Linux kernel before 4.3.5 does not properly
maintain a hub-interface data structure, which allows
physically proximate attackers to cause a denial of
service (invalid memory access and system crash) or
possibly have unspecified other impact by unplugging a
        USB hub device.(CVE-2015-8816)

      - The ioresources_init function in kernel/resource.c in
the Linux kernel through 4.7, as used in Android before
2016-08-05 on Nexus 6 and 7 (2013) devices, uses weak
permissions for /proc/iomem, which allows local users
to obtain sensitive information by reading this file,
aka Android internal bug 28814213 and Qualcomm internal
bug CR786116. NOTE: the permissions may be intentional
        in most non-Android contexts.(CVE-2015-8944)

      - 'A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's implementation
of overlayfs. An attacker can leak file resources in
the system by opening a large file with write
permissions on a overlay filesystem that is
insufficient to deal with the size of the write.

      - When unmounting the underlying device, the system is
unable to free an inode and this will consume
resources. Repeating this for all available inodes and
memory will create a denial of service
        situation.(CVE-2015-8953)'

      - The rfcomm_sock_bind function in
net/bluetooth/rfcomm/sock.c in the Linux kernel before
4.2 allows local users to obtain sensitive information
or cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference)
via vectors involving a bind system call on a Bluetooth
        RFCOMM socket.(CVE-2015-8956)

      - A flaw was found in the ext4 subsystem. This
vulnerability is a use after free vulnerability was
found in __ext4_journal_stop(). Attackers could abuse
this to allow any code which attempts to deal with the
journal failure to be mishandled or not fail at all.
This could lead to data corruption or
        crashes.(CVE-2015-8961)

      - A flaw was found in the Linux kernel SCSI subsystem,
which allowed a local user to gain privileges or cause
a denial of service (memory corruption and system
crash) by issuing an SG_IO ioctl call while a device
        was being detached.(CVE-2015-8962)

      - Race condition in kernel/events/core.c in the Linux
kernel before 4.4 allows local users to gain privileges
or cause a denial of service via use-after-free
vulnerability by leveraging incorrect handling of an
swevent data structure during a CPU unplug
        operation.(CVE-2015-8963)

      - The tty_set_termios_ldisc() function in
'drivers/tty/tty_ldisc.c' in the Linux kernel before
4.5 allows local users to obtain sensitive information
from kernel memory by reading a tty data
        structure.(CVE-2015-8964)

      - The lrw_crypt() function in 'crypto/lrw.c' in the Linux
kernel before 4.5 allows local users to cause a system
crash and a denial of service by the NULL pointer
dereference via accept(2) system call for AF_ALG socket
without calling setkey() first to set a cipher
        key.(CVE-2015-8970)

      - It was found that kernel/events/core.c in the Linux
kernel mishandles counter grouping, which allows local
users to gain privileges via a crafted application,
related to the perf_pmu_register and perf_event_open
        functions.(CVE-2015-9004)

      - A use-after-free flaw was discovered in the Linux
kernel's tty subsystem, which allows for the disclosure
of uncontrolled memory location and possible kernel
panic. The information leak is caused by a race
condition when attempting to set and read the tty line
discipline. A local attacker could use the TIOCSETD
(via tty_set_ldisc ) to switch to a new line discipline
a concurrent call to a TIOCGETD ioctl performing a read
on a given tty could then access previously allocated
memory. Up to 4 bytes could be leaked when querying the
line discipline or the kernel could panic with a
        NULL-pointer dereference.(CVE-2016-0723)

"The SUSE Linux Enterprise 12 GA LTS kernel was updated to receive
various security and bugfixes. The following security bugs were
    fixed :

      - CVE-2017-15649: net/packet/af_packet.c in the Linux
kernel allowed local users to gain privileges via
crafted system calls that trigger mishandling of
packet_fanout data structures, because of a race
condition (involving fanout_add and packet_do_bind) that
        leads to a use-after-free, a different vulnerability
        than CVE-2017-6346 (bnc#1064388).

      - CVE-2015-9004: kernel/events/core.c in the Linux kernel
mishandled counter grouping, which allowed local users
to gain privileges via a crafted application, related to
        the perf_pmu_register and perf_event_open functions
        (bnc#1037306).

      - CVE-2016-10229: udp.c in the Linux kernel allowed remote
attackers to execute arbitrary code via UDP traffic that
triggers an unsafe second checksum calculation during
execution of a recv system call with the MSG_PEEK flag
        (bnc#1032268).

      - CVE-2016-9604: The handling of keyrings starting with
'.' in KEYCTL_JOIN_SESSION_KEYRING, which could have
allowed local users to manipulate privileged keyrings,
        was fixed (bsc#1035576)

      - CVE-2017-1000363: Linux drivers/char/lp.c Out-of-Bounds
Write. Due to a missing bounds check, and the fact that
parport_ptr integer is static, a 'secure boot' kernel
command line adversary (can happen due to bootloader
vulns, e.g. Google Nexus 6's CVE-2016-10277, where due
to a vulnerability the adversary has partial control
over the command line) can overflow the parport_nr array
in the following code, by appending many (>LP_NO)
'lp=none' arguments to the command line (bnc#1039456).

      - CVE-2017-1000365: The Linux Kernel imposes a size
restriction on the arguments and environmental strings
passed through RLIMIT_STACK/RLIM_INFINITY (1/4 of the
size), but did not take the argument and environment
pointers into account, which allowed attackers to bypass
        this limitation. (bnc#1039354).

      - CVE-2017-1000380: sound/core/timer.c in the Linux kernel
is vulnerable to a data race in the ALSA /dev/snd/timer
driver resulting in local users being able to read
information belonging to other users, i.e.,
uninitialized memory contents may be disclosed when a
read and an ioctl happen at the same time (bnc#1044125).

      - CVE-2017-10661: Race condition in fs/timerfd.c in the
Linux kernel allowed local users to gain privileges or
cause a denial of service (list corruption or
        use-after-free) via simultaneous file-descriptor
operations that leverage improper might_cancel queueing
        (bnc#1053152).

      - CVE-2017-11176: The mq_notify function in the Linux
kernel did not set the sock pointer to NULL upon entry
into the retry logic. During a user-space close of a
Netlink socket, it allowed attackers to cause a denial
of service (use-after-free) or possibly have unspecified
        other impact (bnc#1048275).

      - CVE-2017-12153: A security flaw was discovered in the
        nl80211_set_rekey_data() function in
net/wireless/nl80211.c in the Linux kernel This function
did not check whether the required attributes are
present in a Netlink request. This request can be issued
by a user with the CAP_NET_ADMIN capability and may
result in a NULL pointer dereference and system crash
        (bnc#1058410).

      - CVE-2017-12154: The prepare_vmcs02 function in
arch/x86/kvm/vmx.c in the Linux kernel did not ensure
that the 'CR8-load exiting' and 'CR8-store exiting' L0
vmcs02 controls exist in cases where L1 omits the 'use
TPR shadow' vmcs12 control, which allowed KVM L2 guest
OS users to obtain read and write access to the hardware
        CR8 register (bnc#1058507).

      - CVE-2017-12762: In /drivers/isdn/i4l/isdn_net.c: A
user-controlled buffer is copied into a local buffer of
constant size using strcpy without a length check which
can cause a buffer overflow. (bnc#1053148).

      - CVE-2017-13080: Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA and WPA2)
allowed reinstallation of the Group Temporal Key (GTK)
during the group key handshake, allowing an attacker
within radio range to replay frames from access points
        to clients (bnc#1063667).

      - CVE-2017-14051: An integer overflow in the
        qla2x00_sysfs_write_optrom_ctl function in
        drivers/scsi/qla2xxx/qla_attr.c in the Linux kernel
allowed local users to cause a denial of service (memory
corruption and system crash) by leveraging root access
        (bnc#1056588).

      - CVE-2017-14106: The tcp_disconnect function in
net/ipv4/tcp.c in the Linux kernel allowed local users
to cause a denial of service (__tcp_select_window
divide-by-zero error and system crash) by triggering a
disconnect within a certain tcp_recvmsg code path
        (bnc#1056982).

      - CVE-2017-14140: The move_pages system call in
mm/migrate.c in the Linux kernel doesn't check the
effective uid of the target process, enabling a local
attacker to learn the memory layout of a setuid
        executable despite ASLR (bnc#1057179).

      - CVE-2017-15265: Use-after-free vulnerability in the
Linux kernel allowed local users to have unspecified
impact via vectors related to /dev/snd/seq
        (bnc#1062520).

      - CVE-2017-15274: security/keys/keyctl.c in the Linux
kernel did not consider the case of a NULL payload in
conjunction with a nonzero length value, which allowed
local users to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer
dereference and OOPS) via a crafted add_key or keyctl
system call, a different vulnerability than
        CVE-2017-12192 (bnc#1045327).

      - CVE-2017-2647: The KEYS subsystem in the Linux kernel
allowed local users to gain privileges or cause a denial
of service (NULL pointer dereference and system crash)
via vectors involving a NULL value for a certain match
field, related to the keyring_search_iterator function
        in keyring.c (bnc#1030593).

      - CVE-2017-6951: The keyring_search_aux function in
security/keys/keyring.c in the Linux kernel allowed
local users to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer
dereference and OOPS) via a request_key system call for
        the 'dead' type (bnc#1029850).

      - CVE-2017-7482: A potential memory corruption was fixed
in decoding of krb5 principals in the kernels kerberos
        handling. (bnc#1046107).

      - CVE-2017-7487: The ipxitf_ioctl function in
net/ipx/af_ipx.c in the Linux kernel mishandled
reference counts, which allowed local users to cause a
denial of service (use-after-free) or possibly have
unspecified other impact via a failed SIOCGIFADDR ioctl
call for an IPX interface (bnc#1038879).

      - CVE-2017-7518: The Linux kernel was vulnerable to an
incorrect debug exception(#DB) error. It could occur
while emulating a syscall instruction and potentially
lead to guest privilege escalation. (bsc#1045922).

      - CVE-2017-7541: The brcmf_cfg80211_mgmt_tx function in
        drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/brcm80211/brcmfmac/cfg8021
1.c in the Linux kernel allowed local users to cause a
denial of service (buffer overflow and system crash) or
possibly gain privileges via a crafted NL80211_CMD_FRAME
        Netlink packet (bnc#1049645).

      - CVE-2017-7542: The ip6_find_1stfragopt function in
net/ipv6/output_core.c in the Linux kernel allowed local
users to cause a denial of service (integer overflow and
infinite loop) by leveraging the ability to open a raw
        socket (bnc#1049882).

      - CVE-2017-7889: The mm subsystem in the Linux kernel did
not properly enforce the CONFIG_STRICT_DEVMEM protection
mechanism, which allowed local users to read or write to
kernel memory locations in the first megabyte (and
bypass slab-allocation access restrictions) via an
application that opens the /dev/mem file, related to
        arch/x86/mm/init.c and drivers/char/mem.c (bnc#1034405).

      - CVE-2017-8106: The handle_invept function in
arch/x86/kvm/vmx.c in the Linux kernel 3.12 allowed
privileged KVM guest OS users to cause a denial of
service (NULL pointer dereference and host OS crash) via
a single-context INVEPT instruction with a NULL EPT
        pointer (bnc#1035877).

      - CVE-2017-8831: The saa7164_bus_get function in
        drivers/media/pci/saa7164/saa7164-bus.c in the Linux
kernel allowed local users to cause a denial of service
(out-of-bounds array access) or possibly have
unspecified other impact by changing a certain
sequence-number value, aka a 'double fetch'
        vulnerability (bnc#1037994).

      - CVE-2017-8890: The inet_csk_clone_lock function in
        net/ipv4/inet_connection_sock.c in the Linux kernel
allowed attackers to cause a denial of service (double
free) or possibly have unspecified other impact by
leveraging use of the accept system call (bnc#1038544).

      - CVE-2017-8924: The edge_bulk_in_callback function in
drivers/usb/serial/io_ti.c in the Linux kernel allowed
local users to obtain sensitive information (in the
dmesg ringbuffer and syslog) from uninitialized kernel
memory by using a crafted USB device (posing as an io_ti
USB serial device) to trigger an integer underflow
        (bnc#1037182 bsc#1038982).

      - CVE-2017-8925: The omninet_open function in
drivers/usb/serial/omninet.c in the Linux kernel allowed
local users to cause a denial of service (tty
exhaustion) by leveraging reference count mishandling
        (bnc#1037183 bsc#1038981).

      - CVE-2017-9074: The IPv6 fragmentation implementation in
the Linux kernel did not consider that the nexthdr field
may be associated with an invalid option, which allowed
local users to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds
read and BUG) or possibly have unspecified other impact
via crafted socket and send system calls (bnc#1039882).

      - CVE-2017-9075: The sctp_v6_create_accept_sk function in
net/sctp/ipv6.c in the Linux kernel mishandled
inheritance, which allowed local users to cause a denial
of service or possibly have unspecified other impact via

"According to the versions of the kernel packages installed, the
EulerOS Virtualization for ARM 64 installation on the remote host is
affected by the following vulnerabilities :

      - A buffer overflow was discovered in tpacket_rcv()
function in the Linux kernel since v4.6-rc1 through
v4.13. A number of socket-related syscalls can be made
to set up a configuration when each packet received by
a network interface can cause writing up to 10 bytes to
a kernel memory outside of a kernel buffer. This can
cause unspecified kernel data corruption effects,
including damage of in-memory and on-disk XFS
        data.(CVE-2017-14497i1/4%0

      - The qmi_wwan_bind function in
drivers/net/usb/qmi_wwan.c in the Linux kernel through
4.13.11 allows local users to cause a denial of service
(divide-by-zero error and system crash) or possibly
have unspecified other impact via a crafted USB
        device.(CVE-2017-16650i1/4%0

      - A race condition flaw was found in the way the Linux
        kernel's SCTP implementation handled sctp_accept()
during the processing of heartbeat timeout events. A
remote attacker could use this flaw to prevent further
connections to be accepted by the SCTP server running
on the system, resulting in a denial of
        service.(CVE-2015-8767i1/4%0

      - A race condition flaw was found in the way the Linux
kernel's KVM subsystem handled PIT (Programmable
Interval Timer) emulation. A guest user who has access
to the PIT I/O ports could use this flaw to crash the
        host.(CVE-2014-3611i1/4%0

      - The Linux kernel is vulnerable to a memory leak in the
        drivers/net/wireless/mac80211_hwsim.c:hwsim_new_radio_n
l() function. An attacker could exploit this to cause a
        potential denial of service.(CVE-2018-8087i1/4%0

      - An integer underflow flaw was found in the way the
Linux kernel's Stream Control Transmission Protocol
        (SCTP) implementation processed certain COOKIE_ECHO
packets. By sending a specially crafted SCTP packet, a
remote attacker could use this flaw to prevent
legitimate connections to a particular SCTP server
        socket to be made.(CVE-2014-4667i1/4%0

      - The cx231xx_usb_probe function in
        drivers/media/usb/cx231xx/cx231xx-cards.c in the Linux
kernel through 4.13.11 allows local users to cause a
denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and system
crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a
        crafted USB device.(CVE-2017-16536i1/4%0

      - The snd_usb_create_streams function in sound/usb/card.c
in the Linux kernel, before 4.13.6, allows local users
to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read and
system crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact
        via a crafted USB device.(CVE-2017-16529i1/4%0

      - A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's random number
generator API. A null pointer dereference in the
rngapi_reset function may result in denial of service,
        crashing the system.(CVE-2017-15116i1/4%0

      - The __netlink_deliver_tap_skb function in
net/netlink/af_netlink.c in the Linux kernel, through
4.14.4, does not restrict observations of Netlink
messages to a single net namespace, when CONFIG_NLMON
is enabled. This allows local users to obtain sensitive
information by leveraging the CAP_NET_ADMIN capability
to sniff an nlmon interface for all Netlink activity on
        the system.(CVE-2017-17449i1/4%0

      - arch/arm64/kernel/perf_event.c in the Linux kernel
before 4.1 on arm64 platforms allows local users to
gain privileges or cause a denial of service (invalid
pointer dereference) via vectors involving events that
are mishandled during a span of multiple HW
        PMUs.(CVE-2015-8955i1/4%0

      - The aac_compat_ioctl function in
drivers/scsi/aacraid/linit.c in the Linux kernel before
3.11.8 does not require the CAP_SYS_RAWIO capability,
which allows local users to bypass intended access
restrictions via a crafted ioctl call.(CVE-2013-6383i1/4%0

      - Linux kernel before version 4.16-rc7 is vulnerable to a
null pointer dereference in dccp_write_xmit() function
in net/dccp/output.c in that allows a local user to
cause a denial of service by a number of certain
        crafted system calls.(CVE-2018-1130i1/4%0

      - The Linux kernel is vulerable to a use-after-free flaw
        when Transformation User configuration
        interface(CONFIG_XFRM_USER) compile-time configuration
were enabled. This vulnerability occurs while closing a
xfrm netlink socket in xfrm_dump_policy_done. A
user/process could abuse this flaw to potentially
        escalate their privileges on a
        system.(CVE-2017-16939i1/4%0

      - A vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel in
function rds_inc_info_copy of file net/rds/recv.c. The
last field 'flags' of object 'minfo' is not
initialized. This can leak data previously at the flags
        location to userspace.(CVE-2016-5244i1/4%0

      - A flaw was found in the kernel's ACPI interpreter when
it does not flush the operand cache and causes a kernel
stack dump. This allows local users to obtain sensitive
information from kernel memory and bypass the KASLR
        protection mechanism.(CVE-2017-13693i1/4%0

      - It was found that kernel/events/core.c in the Linux
kernel mishandles counter grouping, which allows local
users to gain privileges via a crafted application,
related to the perf_pmu_register and perf_event_open
        functions.(CVE-2015-9004i1/4%0

      - The xfs_bmap_extents_to_btree function in
fs/xfs/libxfs/xfs_bmap.c in the Linux kernel through
4.16.3 allows local users to cause a denial of service
(xfs_bmapi_write NULL pointer dereference) via a
        crafted xfs image.(CVE-2018-10323i1/4%0

      - The lrw_crypt() function in 'crypto/lrw.c' in the Linux
kernel before 4.5 allows local users to cause a system
crash and a denial of service by the NULL pointer
dereference via accept(2) system call for AF_ALG socket
without calling setkey() first to set a cipher
        key.(CVE-2015-8970i1/4%0

      - The IPv6 fragmentation implementation in the Linux
kernel does not consider that the nexthdr field may be
associated with an invalid option, which allows local
users to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read
and BUG) or possibly have unspecified other impact via
crafted socket and send system calls. Due to the nature
of the flaw, privilege escalation cannot be fully ruled
out, although we believe it is
        unlikely.(CVE-2017-9074i1/4%0
