UNKNOWN Summary
Adobe Flash Player before 13.0.0.258 and 14.x and 15.x before 15.0.0.239 on Windows and OS X and before 11.2.202.424 on Linux, Adobe AIR before 15.0.0.293, Adobe AIR SDK before 15.0.0.302, and Adobe AIR SDK & Compiler before 15.0.0.302 allow attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (invalid pointer dereference) via unspecified vectors.
Vulnerable Configurations
Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE)
Common Attack Pattern Enumeration and Classification (CAPEC)
- Buffer Overflow via Environment Variables This attack pattern involves causing a buffer overflow through manipulation of environment variables. Once the attacker finds that they can modify an environment variable, they may try to overflow associated buffers. This attack leverages implicit trust often placed in environment variables.
- Overflow Buffers Buffer Overflow attacks target improper or missing bounds checking on buffer operations, typically triggered by input injected by an attacker. As a consequence, an attacker is able to write past the boundaries of allocated buffer regions in memory, causing a program crash or potentially redirection of execution as per the attackers' choice.
- Client-side Injection-induced Buffer Overflow This type of attack exploits a buffer overflow vulnerability in targeted client software through injection of malicious content from a custom-built hostile service.
- Filter Failure through Buffer Overflow In this attack, the idea is to cause an active filter to fail by causing an oversized transaction. An attacker may try to feed overly long input strings to the program in an attempt to overwhelm the filter (by causing a buffer overflow) and hoping that the filter does not fail securely (i.e. the user input is let into the system unfiltered).
- MIME Conversion An attacker exploits a weakness in the MIME conversion routine to cause a buffer overflow and gain control over the mail server machine. The MIME system is designed to allow various different information formats to be interpreted and sent via e-mail. Attack points exist when data are converted to MIME compatible format and back.

Red Hat Product Security has rated this update as having Critical security impact. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score, which gives a detailed severity rating, is available from the CVE link in the References section. The flash-plugin package contains a Mozilla Firefox compatible Adobe Flash Player web browser plug-in. This update fixes one vulnerability in Adobe Flash Player. This vulnerability is detailed in the Adobe Security Bulletin APSB14-26, listed in the References section. A flaw was found in the way flash-plugin displayed certain SWF content. An attacker could use this flaw to create a specially crafted SWF file that would cause flash-plugin to crash or, potentially, execute arbitrary code when the victim loaded a page containing the malicious SWF content. (CVE-2014-8439) All users of Adobe Flash Player should install this updated package, which upgrades Flash Player to version 11.2.202.424. last seen 2020-06-01 modified 2020-06-02 plugin id 79597 published 2014-11-27 reporter This script is Copyright (C) 2014-2019 and is owned by Tenable, Inc. or an Affiliate thereof. source https://www.tenable.com/plugins/nessus/79597 title RHEL 5 / 6 : flash-plugin (RHSA-2014:1915) NASL family Windows NASL id GOOGLE_CHROME_38_0_2125_104.NASL description The version of Google Chrome installed on the remote host is a version prior to 38.0.2125.104.
