Indo-Singapore IT Task Force Discusses Security

http://asia.internet.com/2000/11/1101-india.html By Uday Lal Pai India Correspondent, asia.internet.com [November 1, 2000--MUMBAI] The Indo-Singapore task force on IT, communication and systems has held its first meeting in New Delhi and discussed various issues related to e-commerce laws, content, online security and ways to establish joint research and development (R&D) efforts. "The participants of the meeting were of the view that it was imperative to increase connectivity between India and Singapore and build broadband content and application," an official release from the government of India said. Indian IT minister Pramod Mahajan met a high-level delegation comprising members of Indo-Singapore technology task force. The delegation has deliberated upon proposed initiatives in the field, and agreed to explore opportunities in the third country market, an official release said here. Other areas of discussion included information security, especially with regard to exchanging information on methodology for improving the online security of transactions and e-payments. The task force also discussed key inputs to set up information communication technology (ICT) incubators in India, besides ways to tap institutions of higher learning for mutual technological benefit, it added. Meanwhile a delegation of Singapore industry majors attended the Bangalore IT fair. Representatives of 15 companies led by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore will be looking to establish strategic relationships with Indian companies. The delegation includes StarHub, UniG, National Computer Systems, Pacific Internet, Singapore Computer Systems, JTC International, MediaManager, Growasia.com DirectRecruitment.com, Information Technology Park, MediaManager and Singapore Exhibition Services.
